Stress Testing The Blasphemy Legislation

While Dermot moves early to capture the leadership,
breaking out the far-right horsewhip,
sapping the fight from every humanist,
get your shirt on and look the coolest:

Generation Yes

The Generation Yes campaign is up and running and offers a welcome antidote to the lies and hyper spin of the bald headed ghoul and the Libertwats:

"LIE: Unelected Brussels bureaucrats make up to 80% of laws.

THE TRUTH:EU law is democratically agreed by our elected representatives, and represents less than half the laws implemented in Ireland each year

LIE: EU laws are made by unelected elites.

THE TRUTH: Every EU law has to be approved by either the people’s directly elected MEPs, or by the elected government representatives of the member states. That means no law can be passed without approval by your elected representatives. The Treaty increases the Parliament’s power further.

LIE: The EU wants to introduce conscription in Ireland.

THE TRUTH: There is no EU army, and there is no move toward conscription. Very few countries have conscription in their national armies, and many of them are phasing it out.Furthermore, close to one fifth of EU countries are neutral states, like Ireland."

O Dia da Liberdade

00:20, 25 April 1974.

Rádio Renascença broadcasts Zeca Afonso's song Grândola, Vila Morena: this is the MFA's main go-ahead signal to troops to launch military operations.

In this scene from Maria de Medeiros' film Capitães de Abril, the 10th commando group are changing in the park to disguise themselves as PIDE (the regime's secret police) in order to take control of the Rádio Clube Português.

Irish Economy Fail

Wonderful, entertaining and diverting gnashing of teeth over the awful economic fate that has fallen from the sky to crush plucky little Ireland. The clothes are ripped off and the rest of the continent gapes to see where the fat of wealth has gathered. So too the scars of neglect. The silence from the general populace as to their part in the validation of a retarded laissez-faire process is ear shattering. Oblivious to the advice and warnings of all their own experts, they played it stupid and calculatedly chose to take as much as they could while they could. Now they sit awake at night, wondering how to get straight back to where they left off. For now they can't laugh at the vicious circus of their elected representatives, it's too serious all of a sudden. Once the pain has become chronic and a few bankers have been hung they will swing back to the start of their loop once more. The government will fall. The new upper middle class will take a few holidays. The cancer patients and special needs pupils will expect a reduction in living standards. Everyone will feel the pain, those at the bottom most of all, and still the streets shall be quiet.

Hello Campers!

How disappointing. The bare minimum and a bunch of boring nutters who won't really set the world alight once the media gets tired of them. This won't really advance the agenda of the slightly less insane and far more banal wingnuts who are behind the Libertwat revolution. This from peoplekorp:

* Lord Alton of Liverpool, a former teacher and son of an Irish speaking mother from the west of Ireland who is very active in anti- abortion circles and was author of a chain letter distributed by independent MEP Kathy Sinnott.

* Viscount Philippe le Jolis de Villiers de Saintignon, MEP and leader of the Catholic conservative party, Mouvement pour la France noted for his anti-Islamist views and his wish to restore the franc.

* Paul Marie Couteaux, MEP who would like to see France distancing itself from the union.

* Georgios Georgiou, 72, Greek MEP, a member of the People’s Orthodox Rally, that has moved recently from being anti-semitic to advocating gay rights.

* Timo Soini, of the True Finns Party that has five seats in the Finnish Parliament and been accused of xenophobia, which he denies as a devoted Catholic.

* Igor Grazin a member of the Estonian parliament for the eurosceptic Estonian Reform Party, was a member of the last USSR Congress of People’s Deputies.

* Mincho Kuminev, one of 20 independent members of the Bulgarian parliament elected in mid 2005.
