Retro-Budget

When TV3 started broadcasting we all hoped that it would add more choice* to our regular diet of television offal. So far all it has done is force me to choose between Jeremy on BBC2 and Vinny on the Nightly News. I find yet another UCD Economist giving tuppence worth when he should be in the office. Although kudos to anyone who can take a lump out of Eamon O’Cuiv.

Flipping over from the details of the bludgeoning budget and the continuing 21st century war on the middle class, we have 'Undercover Ireland' on drugs. I shall never again watch an investigative news item concerning drugs but rather substitute Brass Eye’s ‘Cake’ episode and watch that over and over again instead.

Where would you be without such a dippy load of tripe like ‘Undercover Ireland’ to induce the odd belly laugh? Or David Quinn of the Iona institute for that matter, writing in the Irish Independent blaming the global banking crisis on ‘free love’ and too much progressive liberal morals. And in these difficult and dismal days, all diversionary ditties are obliged and welcome.

*Use of such word and method of argumentation in order to increase the amount of shitty digital channels in every home copyright Rupert Murdoch 1998.
